WW2 German Kriegsmarine 8x60 Zeiss U BOAT COMMANDER BINOCULARS RARE
Used on U-boats and other surface vessels, these were captured at the end of the war. The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6x30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7x50, 8x30, 8x60 10x50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. This specific binocular was used by the U-Boat commander. Made of solid brass and steel, by " blc " (Carl Zeiss Militarabteilung, Jena), these 8 x 60 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The optics are AMAZINGLY CLEAR and SHARP with NO major spotting! The view in PERFECT alignment. With NO haze (some light spots on the right lens)!
The right side is body marked 8x60, the 3-digit code of " blc " , the serial number, " 370497 ". Though not marked as such, the optics also appear to be coated. Though it is missing the strap, the ORIGINAL rain shield is still present! When the binoculars arrived to me, almost all the paint was missing, as well as the flip-up eye cups. As such, I had these color-matched to the original paint that was on them, and found replacement (reproduction) eye cups.
Slight wear due to the age, but nothing that detracts! An AMAZING example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc.
