ORIGINAL WW2 GERMAN DEATH CARD/STERBEBILD/PHOTO'S/POSTCARD/BOOK GROUPING. He served in the Kriegsmarine since 24. June 1935 and served on board the Battleship "Panzerschiff Admiral Graf Spee" and later on the Battleship Bismarck. Holder of the National Badge for Physical Training. KIA when the Bismarck was sunk on 27. A unique death card - Hans' picture is separately attached to the main card - carefully glued in place only at the top. The postcard shows the barracks of the Kriegsmarine training school in Kiel, Germany, which was sent by Hans to his parents on 31. March 1938 with the text "this is my new home for the upcoming six months". His maths book is also preserved here - a little less than half full of workings - showing some of his calculations and writings. The very interesting detail is that the death card and the two photos show Hans wearing three different cap ribbons; The one on the death card shows the ribbon - "Kriegsmarindienstelle Hamburg". The portrait photo shows him wearing the "Panzerschiff Admiral Graf Spee" ribbon, and the photo with his comrades shows him wearing the general "Kriegsmarine" ribbon. All the men hold the Kriegsmarine rank of Maschinenmaat and almost certainly the other two men were crewmembers of the Bismarck.
