Pre WW2 German Kreigsmarine Lion Head Sword Navy Officer Sword Scarce Marked Example! Sadly scabbard is missing on this stunning minty example of a scarce sword! Making it even rarer we know this sword was issued due to the markings on the hilt. This sword is in near mint condition and impossible to upgrade! It is ready to go in your display/ collection/ museum.
Onto the sword this is an unmarked blade example though this one has been attributed to E & F Horster. The hilt is solid cast brass w the stylied flowing main lion. Both folding guards are functional and complete.
Additionally the folding guard is marked w the O836. This mark means that the sword was Ostsee Depot in Kiel Germany. Additionally on the underside of the guard there is a stylized closing wing eagle over a gothic M which was an early generally pre war bavy ordinance mark!
This sword is very well marked helping us pin it down further! The handle is off white celluiod commonly cracked or damaged but this example is near mint w single strand wire wrap. The blade is unmarked but near mint it is solid polished steel. This is a textbook like example of an issued and used but mear mint german ww2 navy sword. One can only imagine who owned this a Uboat commander/ E Boat Commander the possibilities are endless if only this piece could speak! Please see photos 6/7/8 for marks on the sword! I have many many more photos about 30! If you are interested in more images just ask!
