Festa KM 720, German Kriegsmarine military watch, 1940s World War II
The original official supply watch for the Kriegsmarine, made in the 1940s in Switzerland. A distinctive feature is the designation K. The Festa brand was part of the Union Horlogere cooperative union, along with Alpina, and other manufacturers of military watches.
The Reich ordered watches to a certain set specification. The obligatory requirements for KM watches were: a light dial with luminous marks and hands, easy-to-read Arabic numerals of a simple design, a screw-down steel case back with moisture protection, an anchor mechanism with 15 jewels with a shock-proof device.
All these criteria are well illustrated in this watch. The old phosphor on the hands and numbers has been updated with a new luminous mass, it glows perfectly in the dark.
