Original WW2-vintage artwork in the form of a hand-carved and hand-chiseled wooden bowl. Along the rim of the bowl - in raised letters - are the words KRETA 1942 OHNE KAMPF KEIN BROT, which basically translates as Crete 1942 Without Fight No Bread. According to the original source of this item, this bowl was created/sculpted by an enlisted man of the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) who was involved in numerous perilous re-supply missions from mainland Greece to the island of Crete, constantly running the gauntlet of the Royal Navy-dominated Mediterranean. This interesting piece of history weighs 1 lb.
