WW2 Style German U-boat Kriegsmarine Hat Cap U-380 Kptlt. Josef Röther
This is a museum quality reproduction of an impossible to find German U-Boat captains cap (U-68) with 70+ years of ageing. The cap has been made using original WW2 design patterns.

The body of the cap is made from blue wool; a black wool cap band, genuine old leather chin strap, and a beautifully aged leather sweat band. The insignia and visor are made from hand embroidered gold wire bullion with an aged patina. Unlike cheap reproductions the gold bullion on this cap has been manufactured to the correct colour and extends the full length of the visor on each side. Established in 1877, n Schlöffel was one of the very finest manufacturers of Kriegsmarine caps, being located close to the Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhelmshaven (Wilhelmshaven Naval Shipyard), Germany. Inserted inside cap label is an aged copy of Kapitänleutnant.

The cap also comes fitted with a U-380'four leaf clover' brass cap badge and will come complete with it's aged Adler. A perfect cap for your Kriegsmarine collection.

The cap you see in the pictures is the cap you will get. Please do not hesitate to ask questions and feel free to check out my other auctions and feedback.

If you want a U-boat cap made for a specific U-boat commander please feel free to get in touch with me. U-380 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Germanys Kriegsmarine.

She was ordered on 16 October 1939 and laid down at the Howaldtswerke yard in Kiel, on 1 October 1940. U-380 was launched in Kiel on 5 November 1941 and formally commissioned into the Kriegsmarine 22 December. Josef Röther (German Cross in Gold) was commander of U-380 during the period 22 December 1941 19 November 1943. He conducted 10 patrols (226 days at sea) before relinquishing command to Kptlt.

U-380 was sunk along with U-410 on 11 March 1944 at the Missiessy Docks in Toulon, France, by bombs during a USAF air raid. One crew member (Maschinenmaat Jonny Christoph) was killed with an unknown number of survivors. Thanks for looking and best wishes from the north Atlantic coast of Ireland.
