There are no cloth tags in this garment so please view, and enlarge all 12 high quality photos with this listing. Photo #7 does show a hand written marking which appears to be D-O111. The marking is on the grey inner breast pocket fabric. This jacket fits like a medium size 40-42, so check the photos with tape measurements. The exterior features a double breasted row of buttons with the'Kreigsmarine' anchor & rope.

These buttons are made of a magnetic metal. The reverse (back) of the buttons is stamped OVERHOFF & Cie, and, some very tiny stamped symbols, which I can't identify. There are 3 missing buttons on the lower front however there are 2 buttons behind the open lapels. These would be used for closure right up to the neck, but they could be moved to the lower front without detracting from the overall appearance of the jacket. This rugged beauty began life as a light grey, heavy leather cowhide?

Check photos showing areas under the side pocket flaps, and the lapels, and you will see pretty much the original color. Similar listings and ads refer to it as a U-Boat officers jacket. I cannot confirm this item as WWII U-Boat jacket. The entire exterior is weathered to various degrees and distressed color differences. Discerning collector's refer to this type of aging as'patina'.

It is definitely worn, but not worn out. There are some tiny snags, cuts, and rough spots all around, mostly on the left elbow.

The leather exterior retains its flexibility, and is supple to the touch. The cold weather cuffs are in great condition with no shredding, and they retain full elasticity. The interior lining is a black wool type fabric and it is in excellent condition with no rips.

The entire lower edge of the interior wool-like lining has been'hand stiched' to the lower horizontal leather edge. A heavy black thread was used. The interior sleeves are a satin-like material, also in very good condition with no rips, or staining.

The 4 outside pockets (2 slant and 2 flap) are lined with the same, black wool like fabric, as the inner lining. The inner breast pocket pocket (with the hand written D-O111) is a grey fabric, and it does have a hand sewn repair. Overall this classic beauty is in very good'seasoned' conditioned. Ready to wear, or display.

This is not a light weight designer'cream puff'. If you have questions, or require additional photos about this'salty dog garment,' message me and I will answer in a timely manner.
